Dental Crowns Near You
What is a Crown?
A dental crown is a cap that covers the entirety of a damaged tooth surface to restore its shape and size
A dental crown helps to protect and strengthen the tooth structure. There are many kinds of dental crowns, however, porcelain crowns are the most popular because they are the same color as natural teeth, durable, and last many years. However, similar to most dental restorations, they will eventually need replacing. Porcelain dental crowns are created to match the size, color, and shape of your natural teeth, providing you with a radiant, natural, and long-lasting smile. What is the procedure for getting a dental crown?
Interested in receiving dental crowns near you? The process usually takes two appointments. At your first appointment, your dentist will take an impression that is used to manufacture your custom-made dental crown. The impression will also be used to create a temporary crown that will protect your tooth for about two weeks until your permanent crown is created by the dental lab.
After using a local anesthetic to numb your tooth, your dentist will prepare your tooth by first removing any signs of decay and then reshaping it so it will fit the dental crown. Once this has been done, your dentist will take an impression of your tooth and fit your temporary crown over it. They will check your bite to make sure that the crown is fitting properly in your mouth.
At your second visit, your dentist will take of your temporary crown and disinfect the tooth. Your dentist will then carefully place your new crown and ensure that the fit is accurate and comfortable. Your dentist will provide you with aftercare instructions and you are encouraged to visit the dentist on a regular basis for checkups.
